Faculty Ethics Review Committee (FERC)
About FERC
The Faculty Ethical Review Committee (FERC) is a sub-committee of the Faculty Board of the Faculty of Science, responsible for reviewing research proposals involving human participants, animals, or other ethical considerations. FERC ensures that all research conducted under the Faculty adheres to national and institutional ethical guidelines. The committee evaluates proposals for ethical compliance, guides on ethical issues, and grants approval before the commencement of research.
Roles and Responsibilities
FERC plays a key role in promoting ethical research practices among undergraduate students by:
- Reviewing undergraduate research proposals to ensure they meet ethical standards.
- Providing guidance and feedback to students and supervisors on ethical considerations.
- Maintaining records of approved research and related documentation.
- Recommending training sessions, workshops, or other initiatives to enhance awareness of ethical research practices within the Faculty.
