Student Academic Advisory Committee (SAAC)

About SAAC

Although creating an environment conducive to academic growth is the aim of the faculty, the Faculty of Science caters to a diverse group of students, from various socio-economic, academic and cultural backgrounds. These students have a variety of motivations, ambitions and goals. While most undergraduates adapt quickly to the new learning environment, some students find it difficult to align their learning habits with the requirements of the curriculum and manage the workload together with the cultural shock of living and learning in a co-educational, residential environment. Some students may not have a clear set of goals to motivate and direct them. This leads to a significant (10-15%) portion of students who underperform academically and are unable to develop to their fullest potential. The Student Academic Advisory Committee (SAAC), works toward alleviating these problems by enhancing the academic advising program and providing extra support to students who are underperforming during their undergraduate careers.
