The Department Geology of the University of Peradeniya is well known for its research strength and excellent output of high quality research and publications.The B.Sc. special degree students carry out their research projects in their final year and their findings often lead to presentations at professional society meetings and/or publications in refereed journals.

The Staff and students of the Department of Geology are currently involved in research in the following fields of studies. In addition, some of the M.Sc.
