The ELTU provides the following services to the undergraduates and staff members of the University.
- Conducting English courses for the non-academic staff members of the Faculty
- Assisting the students and the staff in writing CVs, SOPs, cover letters and job application forms
- Assisting undergraduate and postgraduate students in editing their theses, project reports, abstracts, publications and research articles
- Conducting communicative English sessions for final year students upon request
- Guiding and counseling the students to identify their language difficulties and assisting them in overcoming them
- Motivating the students to enhance their creative abilities through poems, stories, etc. (displaying them on the "English Corner" and featuring them in the E-magazine)
- Holding a variety show to enhance soft skills of students of the Faculty and to improve their communicative skills and confidence
- Conducting supplementary English classes for students who need extra help
- Contributing as resource persons to external courses conducted by the University of Peradeniya (Centre for Distant and Continuing Education, Department of English, Post graduate Institute of Science)
- Contributing as resource persons at school level English competitions, to teacher development programmes and student workshops
- Conducting Speechcraft meetings for the undergraduates in order to develop their language proficiency
