At the prestigious 80th Annual Sessions of the Sri Lanka Association for the Advancement of Science (SLAAS), held on the 8th of December 2024 at Jasmine Hall, BMICH, Mr. W. A. D. L. Kumara, a Temporary Lecturer in the Department of Mathematics, clinched the first-place award in the Physical Science Award – 2024, Mathematics Category. His groundbreaking project, titled “Defining a Version of Dimension in Large Scale Geometry Using Asymptotic Partitions”, was conducted under the expert guidance of Dr. A. K. Amarasinghe, from the Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Science, University of Peradeniya.
This recognition reflects Mr. Kumara's innovative approach to addressing complex mathematical problems and serves as a testament to the high calibre of research being conducted in our department.
