Trained academic support staff is vital resource for conducting successful Learner-centered teaching for undergraduates. Aiming to provide knowledge and skills needed for conducting successful laboratory practical classes in the department, to introduce good practices and to inculcate healthy attitudes in them, a three-day workshop was conducted in the Department of Botany with the participation of many resource persons. This activity was funded by the AHEAD ELTA ELSE grant Activity 3.2.1 of the Faculty of Science. Prof. Ruwan Jayasinghe, the Director of the AHEAD ELTA ELSE Grant of the University of Peradeniya was the chief guest of the event. Invited resource persons representing both academic and non-academic staff of the University conducted sessions to train the participants. In addition, the participants were able to visit the laboratories in the Faculty of Dental Sciences and in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Sciences. Certificates of participation were awarded at the end of the workshop, and Ms. Jayantha Dharmasiri, the (Acting) Registrar of the University was present to grace the occasion.
