About Me

I graduated from the Dept. of Geology, Faculty of Science, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka in 2001 having followed the BSc (Special) in Geology. Upon graduation, I was appointed as a Temporary Demonstrator in the Department of Geology, University of Peradeniya from May, 2001 to June 2002. During that time, I started my Postgraduate Diploma in Oceanography at the Postgraduate Institute of Science, University of Peradeniya and completed it in 2002. Subsequently, I entered the Shimane University, Japan for MSc in Metamorphic Petrology (2003-2005) under Japanese Government Scholarship. For the PhD, I entered the Okayama University, Japan (2005-2008) and obtained the doctorate in Petrology and Isotope Geochemistry. After award of my PhD, I continued my research career in the Okayama University, Japan as a Post Doctoral Researcher (2008-2009), and was awarded the Australian Research Council (ARC) Fellowship to carry out further research in the Australian National University, Canberra (2009-2010). Afterwards, I decided to serve my country and joined the Department of Geology, University of Peradeniya, in January, 2011 as a Senior Lecturer. In 2017, I was awarded a fellowship for collaborative research as an Assistant Professor in the Dept. of Geology, Faculty of Science, Niigata University, Japan. Since 2017, I have been promoted to the position of Professor in Geology.
